Learned on new builds, now working for families
I learned concrete on new home construction, pouring foundations and flatwork, which is our word for driveways, walks and patios, for builders before anyone had moved in. In 2023 I started Iron Ridge La Verne Concrete here in La Verne because I wanted to work on homes where families already live. That changes the job, because the cars still have to get out in the morning and the neighbors still share the street.
Today we're best known for driveways, patios and walks done neatly around a house that's in daily use, and most of our calls come from homeowners in La Verne and the cities around it. I care most about the work under the finish, the subgrade or packed ground the slab sits on, because it's the first thing people want to cut and nobody sees it once the pour is done. Before we pour, we talk through control joints, the grooves cut so the slab cracks along lines we choose, and curing, the wait while the concrete gains strength before you use it. We also check with the city on each job, and where a permit is needed we handle the application and set up the inspections.
